Mari's song to her children
I sing to the lost ones come home !.Can you see the ancient  footprints .shining like a beacon walking far back into the rolling mists? Once they tried to irradiate our very existence ,but ,we hid ourselves ,some in their very core. And sometimes a witch would be born, born ,born......
I sent you hidden from this last stronghold ,to roam .Waiting for you to come again ,yes you were sent .I am Mari ,and my priestess ,I see you still exist. .Born of the others ,wrapped in their blankets ,yet held in my womb, you’d come again ,that I swore .Torn ,forlorn ,we mourn...........

Mari in raven form with her minions The men of the others didn’t kill me ,oh no they buried me alive .......And though long have I slept in the earth ,Took my priestesses ,my sacred places ,yet ,those under places are mine a lone ,my hive and still I thrive .Come and let me comb your hair ,sitting here ,sitting there ,to share and weave a prayer. Wind blows ,water flows ,bridges being built of rainbows .You have borne much my child ,wild child pariah ,heart beating free ,we flee ..to the high places ,see the children of the mists here with me ?At last ,the earth turns ,the tree burns ,welcome home .You see ,not alone .We were here all the time ,high in the mountain mists ,in the well of your soul .These are my secret places and my word is old .Waited have I at this ,lands end ,for thee .It is time to begin again anew ,come with bowl and spindle ,no more your blood to dwindle .You are home ,reborn ,there’s sheep to be shorn  ,clothe to be made on loom ...the tribe is gathering and anew to bloom.

Once ,the Goddess Mari and her entourage ,ruled the earth ,within those places that were considered to be matriarchal and before modern man .She was a creator goddess of thunder and wind. The very personification of the Earth. The thunder spirit Maju is one of the names of her husband .Sugarr is another name ,his appearance is as a man or a serpent/dragon.They have at least 2 sons .Atarrabi, a benign spirit and Mikelats ,who is an evil spirit. On Friday evenings ,eves ,she goes to see her husband and he combs her hair with her golden comb. They make love and wind ,lightning and thunder are the outcome !Sometimes ,she marries with mortal men ,it is said ,and bears to them children

Some of the forms of Mari ,who is a shapeshifter are as follows. Various women ,different red animals ,a black he-goat, white cloud ,rainbow, Mari[queen]is represented as a woman with full moon behind her head, a woman with the feet of a bird, a crow or raven, woman mounted on a ram carding her yarn on its horns, a horse or heifer, a tree that looks like a woman, a tree emitting flames, a great wind ,a ball of fire, symbol is a sickle [esp. a sickle of fire crossing the sky, a woman lying horizontally, moving through the air, full moon with flames. She has zoomorphic and radiating forms ,indeed. The forms he takes .depends on the realm in which she manifests.

Maris and courtMari Tree By Modron. This is my painting of a tree. You can see all manner of images .To mari being a woman with the back parts of a tree.
The great goddess has never left the landscape of Europe .The Basque country is where she retreated ,into those places in which her power and mystery had always been great. The painted caves ,the wells ,and mountains of the Pyranees. Mari is served by the Sorginak ,semi-mythical creatures impossible to differentiate from actual witches other pagan  priestesses in Basque. Alelarre are still today the local names of the sabbats. Her laminak are female beings with human form ,but feet of chicken, duck, or goat.

Names for Mari
Mari is both a proper name and title. It will be accompanied by the name of the place where she is asociated. Mari of Txindoki, Mari of the Oven ,Mari of the cave ,Madam Mari of Muno, The Lady of Muru ,Lady of Anboto,Witch of Anboto.Witch of Aketegi, Maris Cave ,Maris Tomb[dolmen]..She is most definitely associated with megalithic structures. The sacred places once known to have been built for the goddess ,now appear to have been built by her minions .Theme in connection to this goddess could be summed up as :formation, destruction, and reformation.

Temples today of Mari
The Basque Etxea....the home is a refuge and temple of Basque people. This element that gives them their very identity and name .It is preserved from generation to generation. The home is protected from evil by fire ,laurel ,ash leaves or dried thistle heads.

Approaching Mari.
There are a number of rules for approaching and dealing with Mari. One must only use familiar form of the pronoun and verb with her. One never sits in her presence. One must leave her cavern the in the same way in which they have entered.

She condemns lies ,thieving ,pride, non-fulfillment of ones word ,failure to help others. She bestows her dispensation on those who deny what is and affirm what is not .Mari lives from the yes and the no-ezagaz eta baiagas.

Habitations

Well with ancient markings, entrance into Maris underworldThey are by far subterranean. It is said ,that they are adorned with gold and precious stones .Beds made of gold .If these things are stolen ,what was gold or jewel ,will turn into coal or rotten pieces of wood ,when outside the abode. Some lore that when human midwives had helped one of her handmaids give birth ,they were given combs of gold in tribute. She is the divisor of storms .ah ,but she loves to comb her ankle length hair ,and spin. She likes to wear red. And drink from her rivers of milk ,deep flowing into the center of the earth.

Poem from Mother Goose

There was an old woman
lived under a hill
and if she is not gone
she lives there still.

Ritual of Divination to Mari
A basque comb..mari and her minions love their combs
This is ultra simple .Light a fire safely. You could burn laurel ,ash ,or thistle incense or wood .Id like to do this for a yes or no answer. Maybe have a red cloth to throw a 2 sided stone upon. Since she and her females are so attached to their combs ,I have done this. I took a flat rock ,maybe the size of a silver dollar. ON one side ,you can paint it black ,on the other side gold .Black for no ,gold for yes. Even may go so far as to paint a gold comb on the black side and a black comb on the gold side .Depends how fancy you want to get ,or even how complicated with the ritual and embellishments. In my minds eye ,I see a comb ,painted black and embellished with like coal on one side ,gold on the other
